Developing Our On-Screen World

The development of "Reciprocity" was a collaborative effort between Rachel Replogle (videographer) and Kate Laughlin (creator/performer). The two worked closely together to construct a film that could create an involved experience of movement and art through the screen.

Behind the scenes look at our collaborative process

To bridge the gap between Rachel and Kate's separate artistic fields, Kate was sure to do her own research on the film making world and develop her own awareness about the relationship between the camera lens and dance movement. This allowed for a common understanding of motive when progressing through the work and making decisions on composition.

Along with researching the film making craft, Kate would go into the rehearsal space and play with movement that was directly related to the camera lens and discover possibilities that would later be implemented into the final visual
