The Dance-Language Conflict

An argumentative response to the assumption that dance is its own language.

Carly Lucas is a fourth-year student at Ball State University pursuing a BFA in Dance Performance. However, her interests span far beyond the scope of performing dance. Her most recent credits include a creative research project called Analyzing Affinities: Research on Personal and Instinctive Movement, and two concert dance works: "Handprints" (choreographer/soloist) and "Individuals Indivisible" (choreographer). Carly's post-graduation goals include performance in contemporary and improvisational disciplines, dance research, choreography, and teaching in higher education.
