Something Within

Alexa Abbott

About the Film:

"Something Within" is based on inspirations from the fashion designers Gianni and Donatella Versace. I originally fell in love with fashion at a very young age becauseI loved to be creative and draw my very own designs. I took a fascination with Gianni Versace after watching the Netflix Series "The Assassination of Gianni Versace." His story is striking, and it has always stuck with me. After taking a few classes in film and screenwriting, I knew I wanted to create dance for film, and thus "Something Within" was born. One person, two contrasting personalities. The struggle between the version of herself she wants people to see, and who she really is behind closed doors.

About the artist:

Alexa is a senior BFA dance major at Ball State and is very excited to share her dance film with you. After graduation, Alexa intends to join a contemporary or jazz company, but also has a knack for musical theatre. Alexa is also interested in teaching at some point in her career, as well as owning a dance studio of her own.

Alexa's favorite shows that she has performed in at Ball State would be "Masters and Visionaries" or "Cinderella: The Ballet." Alexa's Favorite memory of Ball State Dance would be traveling to New York for the Graham University Showcase. A special thanks to Talon Reed Cooper, and Adam Crawley for their help on this film.
